When I run the HD1000's video output at 720p, I see the dark line
you're talking about.  When I run it at 1080i, the line _doesn't_
appear to be there.  I assume the HDNet stuff is native 1080i.
Perhaps this artifact is being introduced by the HD1000's video
scaler?

Note that right now I'm using a high-resolution computer monitor and
the VGA modes, rather than the component modes.

These work well.

That one was not so good. It goes haywire around 8:15 and only very
rarely produces any sort of usable image for the remainder of the
recording.
