Good point about the non-programmers out there. Here are more details: 1) telnet to the HD1000's IP address (eg. 10.10.10.2)... Replace 10.10.10.2 with the IP address found on the top of the screen in the HD1000's Setup screen. telnet 10.10.10.2 2) place a Compact Flash card into the HD1000 3) mount the CF card so that we can write to it mount /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 /mnt/flash1 -o remount,rw,sync 4) create a 64Mb file on the CF card dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/flash1/sdk.swapfile bs=1024 count=65536 5) make that file a swap file mkswap /mnt/flash1/sdk.swapfile 6) turn on the swapfile swapon /mnt/flash1/sdk.swapfile Next time you reboot the HD1000, you need to do the following steps: 1, 2, 3, 6 I hope this helps. >From: "Jeff Curtin" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: Roku Tech Mail List and Discussion >Group<[email protected]> >To: "'Roku Tech Mail List and Discussion Group'" ><[email protected]> >Subject: RE: [Roku-tech] Updated version of MusicJukebox (v1.0.2) released >Date: Sat, 29 May 2004 23:54:43 -0400 > >Roy, > >For us non programmers can you walk us through setting up the swap >file>>>>>> Thanks in advance> > >Jeff > >I know you have instructions on your site but some of us have never used >Telnet before. > > >-----Original Message----- >From: [email protected] >[mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Roy Pereira >Sent: Saturday, May 29, 2004 11:18 PM >To: [email protected] >Subject: [Roku-tech] Updated version of MusicJukebox (v1.0.2) released > >I've updated MusicJukebox on http://portlover.com/jukebox.roku/. > >The new version adds the following: > >-Playlists (M3U, PLS, RMP, ASX, B4S) >-Auto Playlists (rule-based dynamic playlists) >-MP3's without any ID3 tag will now be loaded with their song title set to > their filename >-Much faster scanning of music files!! > >You can download it at http://portlover.com/jukebox.roku/jukebox.roku.zip > >For those of you trying MusicJukebox with your thousands of MP3s, please >use >a >swapfile or the HD1000 will run out of memory and crash. > >_______________________________________________ >Roku-tech mailing list >[email protected] >http://lists.rokulabs.com/mailman/listinfo/roku-tech > >_______________________________________________ >Roku-tech mailing list >[email protected] >http://lists.rokulabs.com/mailman/listinfo/roku-tech
