Worked!!

I was using a different version of the Nikon transfer software, and that is
what was different from all the previous times.

I had the same problem last week.  It turned out that the problem was 
the "broken" jpegs were written in progressive mode.  Re-saving them in 
standard or optimized mode made the Roku happy.
