//Anthony, // //Have I misstepped? //I recently purchased the HD1000 thinking I could stream audio //to it and now see that a server of some sort is needed. The HD1000 does not require any server software be installed on your computer. It does require Windows file sharing to be enabled and one or more folders be shared. Windows file sharing is included on Windows, Mac OSX and most linux installations. Is that the server to which you were referring? //I recently became aware of the SlimServer and am now reading //about iTunes with the SoundBridge. What are plans for HD1000 //relative to this same issue? Our plans definitely include improving the music player on the HD1000 and bringing it into parity with the abilities of the SoundBridge. This includes adding support for additional servers and adding support for additional music formats. How and when this will exactly take place is still TBD (although we do plan to add additional format support into 1.6, afaik) //FYI, I subscribe to MusicMatch and am not sure if their //player can act as a server in same general fashion as iTunes, //but am very interested in the possibility. Are you familiar //with this product and how it might someday interface with //Roku technology? We're pretty familiar with MusicMatch and its server. The server is an implementation of the UPnP Media Server. Unfortunately, it is a pretty spartan implementation of the spec and doesn't implement many of of the more interesting optional features, including searching. What this means is that if we did support MusicMatch (via UPnP), it wouldn't feature many of the features that we have in the SoundBridge's iTunes client. ------ Patrick Ellis Senior Software Engineer, Roku Get more out of your high-def TV.
