Re: Soundbridge 1000 is in the house!

I finally got my Soundbridge M1000 last night. Very excited!

I am happy to see that Roku included all the accessories that I may need such 
as batteries for the remote, Ethernet Cable, and RCA-mini stereo jack). The 
industrial design is quite nice. I must say that it was weird at the beginning 
to be looking at a VFD instead of back/side-lit LCDs that are used pretty much 
exclusively now but the VFD is much easier (for me) to read at a distance.

I initially tried to connect the Soundbridge wirelessly with a Linksys WCF11 
but no dice. When I first set the SSID and password it would get a link but 
not get a DHCP address. If I powercycled it would no longer even see the card. 
I reset the unit back to factory defaults and tried again and repeated the 
whole cycle. I then connected the unit to a D-Link 7100AP A/B/G wireless 
access point configured for bridging and it came up right away (I had 
previously been using the access point for my HD1000). So, I guess this means 
the Linksys CF card won't work. Bummer.

Can someone tell me what the OEM of the Roku 802.11b Compact Flash card is?

The visualizers seem.... slow. They appear to be trailing the music more than 
I would expect.

I noticed a little minor visualizer bug last night when the fonts are large. 
If I browse for music and then start playing a track the small area between 
the duration and visualizer is not updated (it retains a portion of the text).

Someone mentioned 3rd party developers. Can we anticipate being able to write 
custom software for the Soundbridge ala HD1000? I do have an application that 
I am working on and would LOVE to have some hooks added to remotely control 
the Soundbridge, which I will comment on later.

Good job guys! What's the big new project now?
