SoundBridge. DHCP and interface config problems.

Help... DHCP problems with Sound Bridge

  I just got the Sound Bridge 2 days ago, and I have been unable to get the 
device to connect to my network through DHCP.  I have been able to get the 
device to connect to my network and play if I manually configure the wire 
connection.  My problems and network are described below.

Problem #1:

1. If I start with the factory settings, the SB (Sound Bridge) does not take 
an address on my network through DHCP.  It acts as if DHCP failed and it 
assigns itself the default IP address (169.254.*.*/255.255.0.0).
     - No... I haven't run out of addresses.
     - I can plug other devices into my network and they get addresses fine.
     - It finds my wireless network (w/ correct SSID and WEP key), but still
       does not get an address.

Work Around #1 (NOT a FIX).

I configured my computer to be in the same subnet as the SB (168.254.0.0/16).  
I connected the SB directly to the computer and was able to ping it.  I 
telneted to port 4444 and dorked around with the cli.  I found that I could 
manually configure the wired and wi-fi interface. I did the following:
  1. Manually configured the SB wired interface with an IP address 
     on my network (192.168.1.210), and mask, gateway, etc.
  2. Plugged the SB back into my network.
  3. Rebooted the SB.
  4. The device showed up on my network and was able to find iTunes and play. 
cool. (but I really wanted wifi).
  5. Now I was able to check for the latest firmware.  I ran the check and it 
said I had the latest (1.044).

Problem #2:

Now I wanted to get the device on the wireless network.  I telneted back into 
the box and configured the Wireless Ethernet interface manually.  It was time 
to desconnect the wired interface and reboot the box.  This is where the 
problem started.  After reboot, nothing shows up in the display.  It never 
seems to come out of reset.  I tried cycling the power several times... still 
no luck (I could only see the heater lines glowing brightly on the display).  
I removed the wi-fi NIC and then rebooted successfully.  So now... it seems 
like I am unable to boot the device if I have my wi-fi NIC installed.  How do 
I fix this?  I haven't tried restoring the defaults yet.


In summary my problems are:
  1. DHCP doesn't work on wired or wireless network.
  2. Manually configuring the wireless interface makes the system unable to 
boot
