Announcing net4801 availability.

Dear Soekris Users,

We're now proud to announce that production of the long waited net4801 
has started.

The first 240 production units will be ready for shipment starting from 
July 10. As there are limited quantities available until the next and 
bigger production series in mid August, units will be delivered on a 
first come, first served basis, but with priority to existing customers 
if we run low. Also, we will not accept orders for more than 2 units per 
person or company.

The net4801 is a compact, low-power, low-cost, advanced communication 
computer, based on a 266 Mhz 586 class Geode single chip processor. It 
has three 10/100 Mbit Ethernet ports, up to 128 Mbyte SDRAM main memory 
and uses a CompactFlash module or a 2.5" hard drive for program and data 
storage. It can be expanded using a MiniPCI type III board and a 
low-power 3.3V standard PCI board. It also offer a USB 1.1 interface and 
environmental monitoring. It has been designed as a higher performance 
upgrade to the net4501 and are software and form factor compatible.

The net4801 has been optimized for use as a Firewall, VPN Router and 
Internet Gateway Server, but has the flexibility to take on a whole 
range of different functions as a communication appliance.

The popular net4501 embedded PC communication computer, and the 
variations for wireless communication, the net4511 and net4521, will 
continue to be available as cost effective entry level boards.
