Soekris 6501, OpenBSD and Asterisk

Before I write out 15 pages on my issue, I will ask: Does anyone have
Asterisk 11.7 running on OpenBSD5.5 on a Soekris 6501?  Did you have any
audio issues with trunking?

I have a client with the above setup for a small office (5 workers) and
they are experiencing choppy audio issues.  This is not phone to system,
rather system to provider.

From my research it looks like it could be caused by a timing issue on
the iax2 trunks, but I cannot seem to find anything concrete supporting
this.  But according to this and this, it seems OpenBSD isn't the best
choice for * anymore.

Can anyone share their experience with this sort of setup?  Or anything?
I am really starting to lose my cool with this one. :]
