Hi,

I have a new net6501-50 where I tried to install pfsense 2.2.1 on (i386)
via usb stick (memserial)

Booting from USB and installing on the Transcend mSATA SSD went fine (as
far as I understand ). However pfsense is not booting from the msata.

net6501 ...

Here it loops (removing the USB stick makes no difference). It appears I
face the same issue as desribed here:

https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=80.15
Unfortunately there is no solution.

Can anyone help me on this ? The fact that I already can read F1 pfSense
makes me believe at least some part of the data on the ssd is there and
accessible. So it might be a FreeBSD thing but I don't know.
What I tried is to install FreeBSD 10.1 as desribed here:
http://www.macfreek.nl/memory/FreeBSD_9_on_Soekris_net6501  . This did
work, meaning it did boot from the msata drive. I did not use the zfs
approach as I believe pfsense is not using it.

Furthermore when I boot via a freebsd usb stick I can mount the pfsense
partitions, I can also run gpart

# gpart show
=>      63  62533233  ada0  MBR  (30G)
         63  62533233     1  freebsd  [active]  (30G)

   58338929   4194304                                   2 freebsd-swap
(2.0G)

=>       0  15734784  da0  BSD  (7.5G)
          0   1282960    1  freebsd-ufs  (626M)
    1282960  14451824       - free -  (6.9G)

=>       0  15734784  diskid/DISK-A0FD58A2  BSD  (7.5G)
          0   1282960                     1  freebsd-ufs  (626M)
    1282960  14451824                        - free -  (6.9G)

Unfortunatley I don't know what I could do know as my freebsd knowledge
is limited. Can anyone give me some hints here ? Is it a MBR thing (if
that exist on FreeBSD at all)

Any help is appreciated.

Marcel
