Net 5501-70 Dead With Red Flashing Error Light

I have a Soekris Net 5501-70.  I bought it second-hand and it's worked fine
for about six months.

A few days ago it stopped responding and upon checking it, I find the power
and error lights are both flashing rapidly.

It doesn't respond on its serial port (not even POST messages at boot).  I
tried removing both the CF card and the hard drive and this did not make
any difference.
