From "the more you know" department: I never knew this but it came up in the AbortRetryFail blog The Tandy Corporation, Part 1 - by Bradford Morgan White<https://www.abortretry.fail/p/the-tandy-corporation-part-1> I found this a little hard to follow - like any broad overview, some of the details are glossed over and there are a lot of naming/people/companies in play. Still, informative. Apparently, when Tandy was growing the 1960s, Pier 1 got started as a new company.
