That's one part of the mystery here. Speech Systems sold the CoCoMIDI
software with a 'cable' to connect your CoCo to a synthesizer. I have no
idea if it used the bit banger or a MIDI cart. There were a number of MIDI
carts sold.

However, Symphony XII didn't use MIDI. Musica 2 DID have MIDI capability.

CoCoMIDI 2 was compatible with Musica 2, had a hardware interface, was
compatible with Lyra, which would work with Symphony 12.
