Just kibbutzing with a vague, old memory:

Should/could you run CLOADM after the BASIC stub loads but before you run that stub?

You could also add that command to a (new) line 371.

It may also need to be CLOADM"   (again, vague memory of the cassette load syntax which allowed for an open quote to load whatever was next on the tape, regardless of name).

And finally, I may be completely wrong about this.

Sure.  I have the BASIC program. As I said it lists a simple help menu
and asks:  "350 INPUT"LOAD OR COPY (L)/C";A$"
If I type "L" it goes to:
370 CLEAR 200,MX
380 ML=763:'LOAD + EXEC
390 SP=PEEK(27)*256+PEEK(28)-ML
400 EXEC SP
410 END

I assume it expects to load a machine language program of some sort
from the tape. and then EXEC it.  It does not.  It nakes  no attempt
to read the tape and simply returns to the "OK" prompt.
