I assume HPRINT won't work for you?  Sounds like this may be a quick logging technique (to print to the text screen so that it will be there when the graphics go away).

I don’t have time to test it, but I think changing the PRINT hook at 359-361 to an RTS instruction (POKE 359,57) should do that. Change it back to the opcode for an extended address JMP to revert back to normal behaviour.
