Old Friends

These days I'm lucky to see 4 or 5 messages a week. I've come to realize it's not from a lack of enthusiasm. Some of us have quieted down our Coco activity (myself included) due to life situations, jobs, or just "not enough time). But... the sad reality is that many have left us for that great Radio Shack in the sky. I have made MANY friends here, some I feel are as close as my own family, though I've never met them in person. I've bought and sold Coco gear, learned to indulge in high level programming, and had some great arguments on this list and it has been sad to watch the "list" slowly fade to it's current state. Seeing the obituary announcements of old members is like losing family members... heartbreaking to say the least. I applaud those of us over 60 who are still here and monitoring the list. We may not post often, but we still watch, waiting for that good chance of a heated argument on serial protocol, C programming syntax, or Basic variable spaces. I mean... who else can we talk to about this stuff? The FaceBook group is still pretty active, but I find a lot of the newer members are new to the Coco having picked one up on EBay or inherited it from family members. Like here, a lot of the older folk are gone, but definitely not forgotten. By the way, has anyone heard from Robert Gault? I used to talk to him quite often here and on FB, but he seems to have gone silent. Through the years he has become a close friend and advisor and I hate to find that he too has passed on. I know (unless something's happened in the past couple of weeks) that Gene Heskett is still with is. Probably the toughest old coot I know. So keep those cards and letter coming... and LONG LIVE THE COCO!!
