Hi Folks,
Well, IAR has not fixed the bug that prevents me from downloading the release version onto the MSP430F5438A chip, but they (Dave Bailey) pointed me to a TI command line downloader that worked, but it still requires a jtag connection. However, while working with this, I discovered why our release version which we download via bootstrap loader behaves differently that our debug version.
I had mistakenly assumed that the TI bootstrap loader command "mass erase" erased the entire chip except the bootloader section. I found this is not true - it also does not erase information memory. Since I store some configuration parameters there, we were seeing that some parameter settings survived a software download. Additionally, (and THIS rarely happens) we discovered that this is not a problem, and may actually be better. Thanks to all who helped.
Mike Raines

Hey folks,

I've been working with iar for about 3 weeks on this, they said it was a known bug and would be fixed on next upgrade, but I just installed latest update and it still does not work. At first, we thought this was not a problem for us, as we usually install the release versions via bootstrap loader, but now, the release versions are behaving differently from the debug versions. It seems the flash memory is not being erased properly, or is written wrong, or both. Has anyone else seen this? I am using MSP430F5438A chip and iar full, latest.

Thanks for your time,

Mike Raines
