Thanks Al. Another difficulty I have is that I cannot get a license number from IAR. It says that the license I have is an older version. (I have removed all other versions from my system using “add/remove programs”). It then comes up with a window asking about renewal and I click on it but it says there is nothing for me. I presume this is because I did not pay for it?? I am trying another board this morning and I will see what happens.

Peter, I am running assembler and Kickstart versions show as 5.60.7 and 6.6.4.2867 in the About tab. This is downloaded as slac050aq.zip. I believe there are later versions but this definitely includes an option for the MSP430FR5728. This option opens differently than older versions, where you got one huge list to the side, now there are individual liosts for each family, with the FR versions are shown as the fourth from top choice. I don't have anything with a 5728 on it but it will link to the old FR57xx EVK

I have not worked with this chip before. I am using assembler and IAR Version 6.52. I have a USB-FET and a target board. In the past I have programmed the FR5728 without any problems. It does not recognise the device. I select this device in the options tab. I also select the MSP430F5XX heading as there is none for the FR57XX. There is only the FR59XX but this is for C only.

Has anyone experienced this before?
