Just in case anyone is interested I forced it with sudo apt-get -o Dpkg::Options::="--force-overwrite" install gdb-msp430 Then Terminal 1 running mspdebug (I'm using spy wire) then (mspdebug) gdb //waiting for connect Then Terminal 2 "msp430-gdb main.elf" (gdb)target remote localhost:2000 and and and Remote debugging using localhost:2000 Segmentation fault Both of the above are known bugs and are documented.
