GDB with CCS generated elf file

Hello, I'm trying to use the msp430-gdb with a elf-file that was generated by standard CCS TI-Compiler. But gdb print the error message: "not in executable format: File format not recognized". Is there a way to use the msp430-gdb with elf files which are generated by the standard code composer studio compiler ?
