AT sounds horrible

I am not sure if this fits exactly, but Could it be that the network
activity is causing interference in the audio?  Maybe the quiet part at
the beginning is when the song is buffered, and the fluttering during
quiet part is the next piece of song being sent over the network.  Do any
of the sounds correlate with the lights flashing on your router?
