Arcam Black Box 50 here (I started this particular thread), got the Audiotron running into the optical in and my CD player (Technics SL-PG590) running into the co-ax via a media converter. Cambridge Audio Pacific interconnects link this to the amp. MP3 from the Audiotron via the BB50 sounds better than a CD played straight through the Technics' line outs. (And the Technics is a damned fine budget player.) Uncompressed through the BB50 (either from CD or with the Audiotron playing a WAV file) sounds absolutely stunning. The other surprising thing - on the Technics player's line outputs, I could hear the difference between the freebie interconnect and the £10 Cambridge Atlantic, but not between the Atlantic, Pearl (£15) and Pacific (£50). On the BB50, there was a significant improvement on each step up. So £30 well spent in that case. -- Glenn Richards Tel: (01453) 845735 Squirrel Solutions http://www.squirrelsolutions.co.uk/ IT consultancy, hardware and software support, broadband installation
