I don't think it's as simple as that, but you may be on to something.
I have unfortunately wiped out that particular test setup while trying
something else, but at one point it wasn't seeing the very first
folder ("10000 Maniacs") while seeing ones that came later in the sort
order.
The TOCMaker issue does seem to have something to do with sort order,
or order of copying to the NAS, or something similar, though -- after
I copied my whole collection over and ran TOCMaker on it, it seemed to
only pick up the last 8 folders in the sort order; they were all W's
and Y's and Z's.
This is all very weird; I can't even characterize its behavior very
well, and I certainly can't make it work. Right about now I'm really
wishing I'd bought an NSLU2, though...
