Understandable but I think were talking direct show filter here for
transcoding. maybe its ffshow.

A hacked xbox is a great way to do all were talking about but when I ftp
last weeks episode of something to my mom to watch I don't want to have to
tell her oh by the way you'll need the latest codec of this to watch that so
go to www.xhackthisandthat.com.ws.us to get it then update your xbox blah
blah I want to say oh btw I uploaded every episode of 24 for ya just press
play...

Most people here or anywhere hear the work hack and run for cover. I myself
love my modded xbox, My HTPC on the other hand I hardly use any more now
that I have this dvd player.

Transcoding on the fly is a real bad "second rate" way to stream video. The
Xbox XBMC uses an incredibly simply and small video player (mplayer) and
will stream every single video I have ever tried to play. I tried one of
those "on the fly" server transcoding players (play@tv) and found it very
unsatisfactory at all but the smallest bit rate videos. At places in the
video where the rate went higher due to lots of on screen movement the video
started to stutter and skip.
