Right now, I use a combination of analog and digital cable - I don't like
using their set-top boxes, so I have one for recording "digital only"
channels with a Replay, and one for HD, and use analog cable for the other 2
Replays.

I expect to add several HD over-the-air tuners to my Myth setup for local
channels, but I will have to keep either Cable or get Dishnetwork (DirecTV
is a company I will never deal with again) for a number of the channels that
I watch.

Linux has become fairly easy to install - on the order of Windows 3.11,
almost up to Win95. Myth is a total BEAR to get working right, unless you
have exactly the same hardware as the person writing the installation guide.
But once it is working, it is very nice. I expect to have the primary
systems up this weekend. Can't wait!

The nice thing is that with 3 ReplayTV 5000 series (2 lifetime subscribed)
and 3 Audiotrons to auction off, most of my changeover costs will be
covered. My only big expense will be in the Terrabyte server I am planning,
but that's an issue for a different show.

Stephen what kind of TV system you have? Air? Cable? DirecTV?

Personally, I'm in the process of moving to MythTV to replace my
ReplayTV's and Audiotrons (EBay, here I come!). I'm tired of waiting for
someone else to produce the product I want, and Myth comes very close
while being open and extensible (a Myth version of TimeTrax, anyone?).

It is time, and past time, for the CE companies to squat or get off the
pot.
Since they can't keep up, I've decided to stop waiting. Sayonara, VTB.
