Denon has announced a damn sexy implementation, but it's very costly and the
latest is they've delayed the launch.  Here's some press:

Looks like Yamaha has something similar they're calling MusicCast.  Also
quite pricey, but at least it's not vaporware:

Me pesonally, if I was going to drop a wad of cash on it, I'd probably wait
for the Denon though.  I have some of their pro DJ gear that supports MP3
CDs and it works fantastically with everything I throw at it.

Why don't the high-end audio manufacturers get on the ball and incorporate
Audiotron-like capabilities into a high-end digital receiver -- that is, a
powerful receiver that can stream mp3 files directly (wired or wireless)
from a computer on a home network or from network-attached storage
(eliminating the need for a computer acting as a music server). It should
incorporate an excellent DAC and have the ability to support different
playback in different rooms of the house through different speaker systems.
It should have a great display that's readable from across the room showing
what's playing by reading mp3 tags and CD-Text. Most importantly, it should
have an RF remote control that incorporates an LCD panel which in addition
to the usual receiver functions allows you to control your music files like
AT-Tray controls an Audiotron.

Our maybe something like this already exists and I just don't know about it
. . . ?? <sigh>
