I doubt this will help but I thought I would toss it in anyway.

I recently bought a new house that had wired ethernet. The location I wanted
to plug in the Audiotron was not working. Audiotron would say path(share)
not found. I could plug my laptop into this same jack however and transfer
files quickly to my desktop machine in another room. So I wasn't really sure
if it was a jack issue or not.

I could use a longer cable to plug the audiotron into a different Ethernet
jack and that did work. OK...so it seemed like it WAS a jack issue, and yet
I was puzzled that I could plug my laptop into this "bad" jack and transfer
files just fine.

I finally just broke down and bought a Hobbes ( http://www.hobbes-usa.com/ )
Lantest-E cable test from TriangleCables.com and tested the jack. Sure
enough...it was miswired. I called the original wiring contractor to come
out and fix it. I've actually found the $40 cable tester to be quite handy
to have around as it lets me quickly determine a bad cable or jack from some
other more esoteric network problem.

Not sure it that helps you at all, but there it is.
