Reducing the size of the unit simultaneously means reducing the size of =
the
display and/or it's front-side controls.  Since the current Audiotron =
setup
is perfect, what he's asking for is to not lose that same form factor.  =
To
make it skinnier and not lose anything, you'd have to make it taller =
pushing
2U's of rack space with adapters and rack U's are a premium to any DJ or
other audio specialist.

That might also be accomplished using mounting brackets.
I've purchases a small(ish) 24-port switch made by Hawking technologies. =
The
width of the case itself is quite a bit smaller than a 19" rack, but the
brackets are longer to extend out to the proper dimensions.

Using the same case size keeps production and inventory costs to a =
minimum.
