Well...hopefully they will continue to bring you years of service. The fact
that they are no longer made doesn't mean you can't continue to use and
enjoy them. Sure, it would have been nice to have a new unit to look forward
to. TB did such a great job with the first Audiotron, that a lot of fans
were wondering what they would do for an encore. But the fact of the matter
is, despite their best efforts to put out a great product, the market wasn't
there for it, and it ended up being a money loser for them. A bunch of us
yapping about how great the AT is/was doesn't equate to a mature marketplace
actually buying the product and making it a profitable division for the
company. These are tough products to market. We all know how great it is to
have a home audio server, but the public at large is still happy with single
CDs and CD carousels, iPods, satellite radio, cable-delivered digital music,
etc.

If TB is thinking about doing another version at some point, it's not hard
to see why they wouldn't want us using their own forum to plan a product
that could potentially compete with it in the future. Sure, it is currently
conceived of as a "hobbiest" project at this point, but if the feature set
ended up being rich enough, and thus marketable at a larger consumer level,
well then you'd have a bunch of legal headaches (on both sides) WRT how the
product was conceived. Seth is just trying to avoid all of that. Seems
reasonable enough.

Enjoy your ATs folks, and if they break at some point and TB can't or won't
fix them, then look to Slim or Roku or Sonos or Creative Labs or whoever is
still in the biz for a replacement. Might not be as good as the AT in some
ways, but might be better in others. That's consumer electronics for ya. :-)
