PerCom 2027 – Call for Workshop Proposals

IEEE PerCom is the premier annual scholarly venue in pervasive computing and communications. Pervasive computing remains a vibrant and rapidly evolving research area, increasingly embedded in commercial and consumer systems through advances in wireless networking, mobile and distributed computing, sensor and actuator systems, ambient intelligence, and smart embedded devices. As these systems grow more pervasive, users have become central to the design and realization of innovative solutions. Despite significant progress in platforms, protocols, systems, and applications, substantial opportunities remain to improve their quality, sustainability, and broader acceptance.
In 2027, the 25th edition of PerCom will be held in Goa, India, as an entirely in-person event.
The PerCom 2027 Organizing Committee invites proposals for workshops to be co-located with the main conference, either immediately before or after it. The purpose of the workshops is to stimulate discussions on state-of-the-art, emerging, visionary, and even controversial topics. Proposals must clearly describe how the workshop format will foster active interaction and debate among participants.
Accepted workshop organizers are expected to actively publicize their workshop through a call for papers, solicit and manage submissions, conduct the review process, and finalize the workshop program. At least two organizers must plan to attend in person to ensure high-quality, interactive engagement.
Workshop proposals are welcome in all areas and topics pertaining to research and applications in pervasive computing and communications. Workshops addressing new emerging research directions in pervasive computing and communication are especially welcome. Workshop papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital library (IEEE Xplore). Accepted regular workshop papers are limited to 6 pages, inclusive of all figures, tables, and references, and must be presented in person at the workshop.

Workshop Proposal Submission Instructions
Workshop proposals should be submitted (in PDF format) no later than June 7, 2026

Each workshop proposal must include:

  1.
The workshop title and acronym.
  2.
The name, address, and a short bio of up to 200 words for each of the workshop organizers; workshops may have 2-4 organizers. It is strongly recommended that organizers belong to at least two different institutions considering also geographical distribution.
  3.
A brief description (up to 2 pages) of:
     *
The technical issues that the workshop will address,
     *
The reasons the workshop is of interest to the PerCom community,
     *
A description of the communities/groups the workshop aims to attract,
     *
A short discussion of related workshops and conferences and an outline of why the proposed workshop is unique (especially with respect to the previous year's PerCom workshops).
  4.
The planned format of the workshop (e.g., keynotes, paper presentations, posters, demos, panel). You must also provide a well-defined strategy to facilitate lively and interactive discussions. In your plan, please also consider how you could support an engaging workshop.
  5.
A description of past editions of the workshop (if the workshop had already been held before), including the number of submitted and accepted papers and the number of attendees. Please also highlight any differences between the proposed edition of the workshop and the previous edition(s). OR, if the workshop is new, an estimate of the expected number of submitted and accepted papers, and of the expected number of attendees.
  6.
A description of the publicity plan.

The names of potential program committee members and the organizing committee. Clarify whether the PC committee members are already committed or are going to be committed to sending submissions.
  8.
The workshop website address.

We are dedicated to supporting gender equality, hence we would like you to strive for a gender balance in the TPC and invited speakers, providing also a good geographical distribution, and to take into account the possible impact of gender diversity/neutrality on the specific research area.
