ACM Interactive Surfaces and Spaces (ISS) 2026

Notification: rolling reviews, no later than August 7, 2026

ACM ISS 2026 invites proposals for WORKSHOPS and TUTORIALS, to be held in person on the first day of the conference (November 23, 2026) in Turin, Italy.

ISS is the premier venue for research on the design, development, and use of new and emerging interactive surfaces and spaces technologies. Relevant topics include (but are not limited to):

- Interaction paradigms around large surfaces (tangibles, pen+touch)
- Immersive analytics and data physicalization
- New and emerging body and space sensing technologies
- Large-scale and outdoor interactive spaces (projected interfaces, drones, ...)
- Museum and art installation trends
- Social protocols, presence, territoriality, and proxemics
- Evaluation methods for surface applications
- Affective spaces and surfaces
- Multi-sensory user interfaces on surfaces (feel, taste, smell)

WORKSHOPS

Workshops offer a forum for in-depth discussion of emerging topics with the ISS community. Proposals are up to 6 pages (excluding references), single-column ACM template, non-anonymous.

TUTORIALS

We invite industry and academic leaders to lead hands-on tutorial sessions (60/90/120 minutes), e.g., live coding, hardware setups and installations, and the latest platforms and tools. Proposals are up to 4 pages (excluding references) plus a 1-page information sheet, single-column ACM template. Accepted proposals are published in the ACM Digital Library. Tutorial proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis upon receipt.
