Submission deadline for the First Round of Full Papers and Technical Notes:
**23 July 2026**

---

EICS 2027 is the nineteenth ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems. The conference is devoted to the engineering of interactive computing systems and their user interfaces, addressing software quality factors including usability, user experience, reliability, security, and related concerns throughout the complete engineering lifecycle.

EICS brings together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of user interface design, software engineering, and computational interaction. The conference focuses on models, methods, techniques, and tools that support the design, development, validation, and verification of interactive systems.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Modelling, specification, and analysis of interaction and interactive systems
- Requirements engineering for interactive systems
- Methods, processes, principles, and tools for building interactive systems
- Software architectures for interactive systems
- Formal methods within interactive systems engineering
- Bridging the gap between engineering and design practices
- Engineering design and evaluation tools
- Computational techniques for designing and evaluating interactive systems
- Interactive data-driven systems
- Diverse interaction techniques and devices
- Hardware and software integration in interactive systems
- Interactive systems for diverse user populations
- Collaborative multi-user interactive systems
- Engineering interactive systems embedding AI technologies
- Engineering interaction-driven AI technologies
- Applying AI technologies throughout the engineering lifecycle

Full Papers and Technical Notes are published as articles in the Proceedings of the ACM on Human-Computer Interaction (PACM-HCI, EICS series).

The PACM-HCI review model includes three submission rounds per year and follows a journal-style review process. Submissions may be accepted directly or invited for revision and resubmission in a subsequent round.

Technical Notes provide focused contributions emphasising technical and system-oriented advances. They should clearly communicate technical innovations and include an illustrative example of the proposed system.

There are no length restrictions on submissions or references. Papers must follow the ACM TAPS workflow and should be submitted via PCS:

Authors should ensure compliance with ACM publication policies, including policies on authorship, the use of generative AI, and research involving human participants.

#### ACM Open

Since January 2026, ACM publications have been published under the ACM Open model. Authors affiliated with participating ACM Open institutions may publish without APCs, while authors from non-participating institutions may be subject to APCs or eligible waivers.

Full submission guidelines, anonymisation requirements, ACM Open information, and publication policies are available on the conference website:
