Dear researcher on multimodal interaction,
We are pleased to invite you to submit articles to the Journal on Multimodal User Interfaces (JMUI). JMUI is published by Springer.
Its 2025 impact factor is 2.6.
JMUI offers a hybrid publication model (open access or not).
You will find examples of special issues and published articles at the end of this email.
JMUI welcomes submissions related to the following topics:
- Design, modelling and evaluation of multimodal interactions and interfaces
- Multimodal input processing
- Virtual agents
- Multimodal perception
- Affective computing and the perception and expression of emotions across modalities
- Innovative use of non-verbal modalities (e.g. gaze, haptics)
- Multimodal corpora and user studies
- Software architectures for multimodal interactions
- AI and LLMs for multimodal interaction
- Applications of multimodal interaction (e.g. health, education, accessibility, automotive, robotics)
- Ethical dimensions of multimodal interaction

JMUI also publishes special issues. These can include extended versions of workshop and conference articles (including at least 30% new material). If you are interested in guest editing a special issue, please feel free to contact us.
