In the last 5 years that I have interacted with children in an educational setting I have seen a huge and fast growth in the use of technology, especially with computers. Also over those years I have seen the technology go from simple programs into more difficult programs. It has been interesting to watch and will be interesting to see where it goes. My question that I have as an educator is with this technology advacement what will teaching look like in the future? I am also deeply concered about the amount of knowldge we are pushing children to learn. I realize that there is no way we can go back to the basics and I also have no desire to go back to the basics, but along with learning technology usage we are still requiring them to learn the information that we learned as children. I wonder if there is some of this information that can be dropped, information they don't need to know as deeply as we require them to know.
