Hi, I believe this will be of interest to the HCI community. Some may know that I've started a company called Tactical Haptics to commercialize the Reactive Grip Shear Feedback Game Controller that my lab did demos with at the World Haptics Conference in Korea this past April and the Game Developers Conference (GDC) this past March. To prime this effort, we have decided to sell development kits on kickstarter and our kickstarter campaign will launch next next week. Our new form of tactile feedback is a significant improvement over standard rumble/vibration feedback and can be placed into a motion controller to create compelling, engaging VR and gaming interaction. We've created demos using Unity 3D to ease implementation for developers and researchers. We have demos that show implementations for portraying the kick of a gun, impact of a sword, inertia of a flail, and stretch of a slingshot. Find out more info on our kickstarter and register to win a free development kit here: http://tacticalhaptics.com/reactive-grip-is-coming-to-kickstarter-next-week/ Also check out videos of the technology http://tacticalhaptics.com/media/ We hope you'll consider supporting our campaign so that haptics with human computer interaction will do more than buzz when you interact...
