Yes, while many of us have invested a lot of time in Visio and for lack of something better it has become a 'defacto' standard for most of us, I believe there's finally something to take its place: Composer (or more formally Serena, ProcessView Composer).

The price points are clearly different, but this isn't a drawing too. This is beyond-Visio. Seeing a demo is the best way to grasp the breadth of the tool. While we've been living in the land of self-deprecation for so long, think -- requirements, process, data, interaction mockups and prototype -- all in one. Oh, and did I mention self-generating, highly formatted (read: designed) documentation from XML, in Word?

The Product Director, David Ruiz, has agreed to conduct live demos for us.Passionate about the vision of the product, he's been involved in all aspects of the tool concept, development and now market distribution. It shows in the results. I've scheduled three 'events' to allow for choice/flexibility -- one is 'really early' to accommodate Europe. To participate in one of these events, see instructions at the bottom of this memo [direct invitation from David Ruiz]

a.. Demo 1: 7/18 at 6:00AM PST
a.. Demo 2: 7/18 at 11:00AM PST
a.. Demo 3: 7/19 at 1:00PM PST

These sessions are part of an early market rollout to get candid feedback from key professionals (that's us). There's a lot to cover for even a cursory view. I know many of you are not short on feedback. I'm most curious to see if I've missed the mark on this one (and I'm not one to 'validate' technical soundness, either).

These are all WebEx demos. If you do not have WebEx capability, get setup in advance. Click on NEW USER (it's almost 'hidden' at the top of the left navigation) at: https://serena.webex.com/
