It would be interesting to map the impact of Institute graduates, and the Institute's impact more generally. It takes a long time to go from conception to making a difference in the world, and in its original form Ivrea had what turns out to have been a small window of opportunity. To its credit, the Institute did a great job of documenting (and communicating about) student and researcher projects. I was involved in this process a little when in the summer of 2002, early in the Institute's life, I was invited to act as a rapporteur at its end of year events, which included its show and a meeting of its advisory Explorers' Club. My extensive report is published on the Institute's Web site. - Report 'Examining Interaction-Ivrea, One Year In' Nico Macdonald, July 2002 http://www.interaction-ivrea.it/en/news/education/2001-02/report/index.asp The Institute also seemed to be good at getting its people 'out there', to conferences such as CHI. At Experience Design events in London we also hosted a number of talks by Institute staff and students, including Casey Reas, Héctor Serrano and Victor Viña.
