Hi everyone,

Please excuse the cross-posting. I'm after some advice on learning and
development for a large global intranet.

We are currently designing a global intranet for one of our clients and
they have asked us to come up with some examples of how other people
have executed the 'Learning and Development' sections on their intranet.
Obviously this is quite tricky because we have no access to other
intranets. We've looked through the 2008 Nielsen Intranet Annual, but
only came up with scraps on the subject.

Here's some background:

· The business is made up of many business units based in
countries around the world,

· The intranet has global, departmental, regional and
business unit-specific sections for content provided by those groups and
relevant to those audiences,

· Learning and development can also be segmented in the same
way (for example, induction to the Prague office, global training for
managers),

· English is the main business language of the intranet, but
some regions and countries (for example, Latin America) have sections in
the local language,

· e-Learning is provided for some topics, and this is
available on a separate site.

Please can you give us any solid examples of:

· Best practice in online learning and development,

· Best practice on content segmentation for large
multi-national intranet sites,

· Aggregation of learning content into one place for each
user, especially if the content itself resides in several different
locations,

· Good online resources for intranet design.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Yours,

Jonathan
