I am responding to your question of organizations that practice experience design. The company I worked for in Minneapolis, Experience Engineering, has been working within this discipline for over 10 years. Lou Carbone, the founder of EE, has a book coming out this June called "Clued In." (If there is a book list on this site, it should be on it.) To learn more about Experience Engineering, go to www.expeng.com Lou gives many talks on this subject - look on the website to learn more about where he is speaking next. Let us know when you get your list together. It would be interesting to see what other organizations are practicing in this field. [email protected] wrote: There are 4 messages in this issue. At least "surbey" sounds like a real world word, in a sniglet sort of way... ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 17:09:35 -0700 From: Noel Franus Subject: Surbey: ED in your org Looking for a temperature reading. Humor me. Every new phrase, practice or collection of practices has its nascent phase. I'm curious about just *how* nascent the concept and practice of "experience design" is today. I suspect that a look at our current jobs would provide a useful gauge. So. Who on this list is doing something you formally call Experience Design on the job, or offering it to clients who understand it? I'm referring specifically to the practice of ED with a capital-E and a capital-D, as it relates to assessing and orchestrating the multitude of touchpoints that create impressions and build relationships. And if you're doing it, how have you articulated your role amidst practitioners of "usability," "interaction design," "interface design," "user experience" or even "brand strategy?" How was/is this concept received by your organizations, coworkers, or clients? Please respond directly -- I'll post results to the list. Thanks, N ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 3 Date: Mon, 24 May 2004 11:56:58 -0700 From: "Blaine Carpenter" Subject: Posting recommendations I am looking to extend a job listing for a senior level design and usability manager out to the experience design community.
