I'm usually among the first to say nasty things about designers but (unless we're talking about designers in the sense of engineering specifiers) I can't imagine that the assignment of a large public bath in a spiritual setting often results in designers creating sterile but efficient environments. (The usual accusation against designers is that we don't think enough about maintenance and the like.) Did the book give actual examples of the evils of designed baths?
