Ah, ok. There might be some nomenclature confuesion here. The OpenCV *library* is required for face detection to work. The phpfacedetect extension is built against that library and makes the OpenCV facial detection features available to PHP. There used to be a more general OpenCV PECL extension, but that extension seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. If Ansel's config contains options for both facedetect *and* opencv, tghe opencv option should be ignored. Only facedetect and "manual" selection are supported. Recent Ansel code in Git already has the option removed, not 100% sure if recent stable Ansel versions were released before or after the extension vanished...
