  Log:
  Check to see if we need to display the date path in the bread crumbs,
  even if we didn't provide the date in the url parameters. Directly checking
  the view_mode property isn't pretty but will do for now, until crumb generation
  is replaced/refactored/moved into  gallery/image/view (?) object
