Just to try I put this code into turba/index.php right after the appInit:

$GLOBALS['registry']->call(
     'contacts/addAddressbook',
     array(
         'name' => 'testAddressbook'
     )
);

The address book is created and I see it in the list, but I can't select 
or remove it.
