Care must be taken with =E2=80=9Cactive upstream support=E2=80=9D; most GNU=
/Linux
distributions support older PHP releases for years after upstream has
lost interest:


- Debian=C2=A09 has PHP=C2=A07.0, EOL TBD
- (Latest Debian (10) was relased 2019/07 with PHP=C2=A07.3)


- RHEL=C2=A06=C2=A0/=C2=A0CentOS=C2=A06 has PHP=C2=A05.3, EOL in 2020/11
- RHEL=C2=A07=C2=A0/=C2=A0CentOS=C2=A07 has PHP=C2=A05.4, EOL in 2024/06
- (Latest CentOS (8) was released 2019/09 with PHP=C2=A07.2)


- SuSE=C2=A015.1 has PHP=C2=A07.2, EOL TBD and is the latest stable version


- Ubuntu=C2=A016.04 has PHP=C2=A07.0, EOL in 2021/04
- Ubuntu=C2=A018.04 has PHP=C2=A07.2, EOL in 2023/04 and is the latest LTS =
version


Using features available only in PHP=C2=A0>=C2=A07.2 pretty much means kill=
ing
most stock GNU/Linux Horde installations.  Sure, there are ways to get a
more recent PHP release outside of official distribution repositories,
but counting on that is a risky proposition IMHO.
