It worked!

I added 'filter' => '\.lnk$', to gollem/config/backends.php

This worked for two extensions:  'filter' => '\.lnk$|\.ini$',

IMHO there is no point in my users seeing the .lnk files as they don't 
work anyway.

Gollem seems like a great tool!
