gollem unnecessary FTP connections

I'm using Horde 5.1.2, gollem 3.0.1, and other current apps. It seems 
that the gollem app makes a new FTP connection with each page load, not 
just gollem views.

For example, when I reload Mail, or Calendar, or any other page, a new 
FTP connection is logged on the FTP server. This creates a lot of extra 
overhead and lag with each page load.

Is there something I can do so that gollem only makes a connection when 
I view the File Manager? Thanks.
