This definitely seems to be the cause of my problem.

However, I read the comments on the ticket you linked and I'm a bit  
confused. Michael Slusarz states that "There's really no reason to be  
using imapproxy anymore these days though for performance reasons, at  
least if using Dovecot 2+." but the "IMP Performance Guide" shipped  
with IMP Debian package tells "Consider an IMAP proxy to allow  
persistent connections."

Besides, I'm using Dovecot 2.2.13 IMAP server and there's a *huge*  
improvement in performance when IMP connects to 'imapproxy' instead of  
directly to Dovecot.

Maybe the Dovecot is not-so-well configured and I will check it out,  
but would really like to hear what you guys think.
