read/unread state for messages

Hi all,

Is anywhere stored if the messages were read already by a particular user?
That would enable the portal block to mask out the read ones and use the free 
place for unread messages. Because the number of messages is limited on the 
portal block and it is reasonable not to display more than 10 or 15 this would 
be a great feature.

Another nice thing would be the ability to select more than one channel in a 
jonah portal block. That means I don't have the headline twice for each channel 
and do have a compact version of the messages.
