Thanks for the pointers Jan. I uninstalled the pecl_http, propro and raphf
extensions, reinstalled them, restarted Apache and now the errors don't show
up anymore. So I guess you are right ... broken PHP. However I'm still
confused, why the error only manifested itself when adding attendees to an
event.

Anyhow, thanks again for the support and sorry for the noise.
