No it's a shared task. Non-shared seem to work.

I created the following just now and it tells me that it was saved.  
It is a shared task also. 
 
  The task was saved.

  Task Details
  Name:  Explain task confusion to Chuck
  Category:  Personal
  Due By: 
  Priority:  3
  Completion Status:  No

But when I try to view the task list I get:

  Your task list is empty.

In the database I see:

INSERT INTO nag_tasks VALUES ('8d95bfb702a4c6125a9ffd7b115ef0d7',0,'Explain task
 confusion to Chuck','Try and explain the issues with the task list.',1043469078
,0,3,1,0,1);
