Thanks again.  I guess I will have to read through all the prefs better. 
  That made a successful connection to the news server.  Things are 
still not configured quite right, some of the images don't show up and 
every news group is reported to have no messages.  But a great step 
forward.  I will see if I can find what is wrong, if not, you will here 
from me again soon. Thanks again.
